The Elder Sequoia
View Floor Plan - In case you get lost, this will help you find your way around.
Heart of the village and it's protector, massive breaches of the sky scraping tree spread out over the many smaller sequoia that served as buildings to encompass the village to it's limits. The branches were each thick with golden sequoia cones, which shone brilliantly in the light of the sun, and glimmer in moonbeam.

An archway was formed at the front of the Elder Sequoia leading to the dirt path, elvish runes bearing the appearance of crystal burned into the ground around it.

Within, one would be filled with an overwhelming sense of tranquility - elven magic thick in the air to produce such a sensation.

Sleeping bags, cots and other assorted materials lay inside for wayward, wandering souls in need of a safe haven.

The bundle of wood that he had so tirelessly collected was drawn down from the horse's back, each individual piece laid out in a massive square in the heart of the forest, not too far away from the shore. This process would take several hours to complete, but when it did, the elf was still not finished with his task.

Oval locket bearing that sequoia engraving was snapped off of his neck as he moved into the very center of the square, crouching down upon a single knee once there.

"The elder tree's lineage shall not die. Nathul'Fairn may have fell to ruin, Lef'Deon's soil blackened and it's trees withered.. but this one swears an oath to Orion that nothing shall befall this last seedling of the elder tree. This one shall protect it with his all his courage, his might and his being." As he spoke, the locket was opened, miniature sequoia pinecone - no bigger than a thimble - fell out and into his palm. Carefully lowering it to the ground to place within the soil, the elf closed his eyes and bowed his head.

Something of a loving lullabyin elvish was the tone of his words after, just above a whisper as elven magics coursed through his fingers and into the seed, spreading out along the grass to the sections of wood squared off, only minutes passing before the lumber began to pulse with a faint green glow. Rising, Choly slowly retreated back and beyond the barrier of wood erected.

As soon as he was beyond the massive square, the lumber took on a significantly more lifelike appearance, older and of another tree species altogether. Roots grew from their ends to sink deep within the soil, while they grew upwards and against the other sections of wood, merging into a single living organism with leaves sprouting from them. Up, up the wood grew in that circle, higher and high until it broke the treetops. The elf needed strain his neck and take a few steps back before it stopped altogether, the tree before him appearing as if it had been living for thousands of years, despite being so recently born.

Hollow inside, with an archway gap of wood directly in front of himself, that soft green light within where the seed had been planted illuminating the hollowed sequoia to bask the room inside with a soothing glow - and it would for all time, if he had could keep to his oath.

Awestruck for a time, his silence was broken when it had passed, ".. This one shall call you Pirostia."

"This one is home."

And he smiled.

Ava plodded along the path down to where she assumed some previously-laid place would be settled for them; little did she expect to see the towering and mighty tree sprouting from the earth to burst high into the air. For a moment she stopped where her tracks lay, holding Lilah's reins in one hand, and stared, agape.

"Is that OUR tree?!" She exclaimed to no-one in particular, dropping Lilah's reins to run for the tree. The mule, for lack of anything much better to do, followed along behind in a doddering kind of way, stopping to sniff at the roadside once in a while. Ava was already in heaven. Two words: GIANT. TREEHOUSE.

Of course, then she spotted Choly in the center of the main hall when she dared in, and she stopped to curl her fingers around the doorway shyly. It was like intruding on someone else's home, and she didn't want to be rude. "Um... can I come in? Are we living here?" she asked timidly. "It's so big..."

Choly sent his mount aside, heave of exasperation escaping him - not sleepy, just tired through and through from the day. Moving forward, a glove was pulled off to press his palm against the wood, faint pat given upon it.

Distracted in his attention to the tree by a voice behind himself, he turned to face Averonne with that elated grin still present, "This one's task is completed, you may do as you wish now little sister. He will remain here and keep the surrounding lands barren of any that would pose a threat to this land."

Another pat given to the wood, before he gestured within for her. "However, if you wish to remain here, you would be able to do as you like within this village - Pirostia. You would be able to sleep within the Elder Tree or aboard Lamanet's Star, whichever you would feel safest at."

"Would you stay and improve this land, or depart from this one's company?"

Ava looked around, not quite sure what to make of it all. It was all so new and so quickly developed - and how to make such a quick life choice as this?

"I... I don't know," she said. "It's so peculiar here, and so beautiful, but it also seems as if we're a very long way from home. If something should befall us, we may not be able to fight it off." There were, after all, few wanderers this far to the south to supplement their ranks. They'd have to make it accessible for their new town to grow.

She thought back to the path she took here, trudging a few steps into the very heart of the tree. She'd made her way from the rocky beach into the wooded glen, and from there down the path-- and there had been an altar-- what was that altar? What was that shrine? She rubbed her temples. Somehow, it was nagging at her.

And then, all of a sudden, the answer came: Reineema. It was a shrine to Reineema.

"My lady has spoken to me," she said. "I don't quite know how or why, but I think.. I -am- meant to stay here. If our town is under her watchful eye and her protection, I think we would do well to accept it. I will stay, and I will improve it." She added, "I do want to help build however I can-- you don't mind the company, do you? It's not, um, a place just for elves, is it?"

Choly turned aside, then stepped within the hollowed tree to crouch down next to where the green light was shining from upon the ground, emerald eyes transfixed upon it. Speaking back to her, as he watched where the seed had been, "This one would not expect you to fight off a single thing, little sister. Though this one was not the bravest of Lef'Deon's warriors, nor the strongest, he fiights with the fury of ten bears to protect his homeland. He would be able to stall an army should it come down to it, by himself."

The sudden revelation from her was cause enough for him to divert his gaze away from the glow and back to her, "Pirostia would welcome any with a kind heart within it, your heart is the kindest this one has found this far, so it is the most welcome, little sister.

This one would never mind the company of his companions who have assisted in his coming to his journey's end, either. But.. this one is unsure of what to ask of all of you. If you truly wished to help, this one believes you would best be suited gathering sticks within the forest down below Moonlight's Path to grow further trees like this one, or herbs in which to keep our mounts and ourselves well fed. Unless you can think of a better use of your skills while we are here?"

Ava grinned. "Ten bears? Impressive." Well, that gave her a little less to be worried about, then. She'd stretch her arms over her head (after a long day of riding it wasn't exactly an easy feat) and turn her silver eyes on the elf once more. "I'm just doing what needs to be done!" she said brightly, her fingers fiddling with the hem of her dress. "Anyone else would to the same. I would be more than happy just to spend my time cooking and tending to the buildings; but... well-- well, nevermind."

She was too nervous to ask for a hospice to be built. That would come, maybe, when it was practical, and right now it was a silly thing to bother the elf with a request for. It wasn't her business - everyone was very busy, after all.

"For this evening, maybe we should go back to the boat to sleep?" she said to Choly, turning to the door. "I'll go fetch some things either way."

Choly shook his head, "You may sleep this night, little sister, but this one must continue his work and ensuring no enemies are lurking within the shadows. This one has supplies on the boat he must gather, however, and will accompany you.."

He moved to the ship.
